Flyleaf: Did you know?

Join us for an interview with major label recording artists Flyleaf.

Lacey Mosley:  Vocals

(I.M)  When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

(I.M)  Have you taken any classes to mold your talents- If so, when, where, and for how long?

(L.M) Yes, I was in choir in 7th grade. I tried out for a solo part for the song that goes, “Some say love, it is a river…” I don’t know the name, but it’s the one they do in “Napoleon Dynamite”. My choir teacher didn’t like the way that I sang it, so I dropped out and took art instead.

(I.M)  I know that the song “Cassie” was written about two young people, Cassie Bermall and Rachel Scott, who were shot for their faith.  Do many of your lyrics have specific events inspiring them?  If so, are there any examples?

(L.M) Definitely, two examples from Memento Mori are “Treasure”, which was inspired by my husband’s proposal to marry me and “Beautiful Bride” which was inspired by a conflict in my family. Most of the events aren’t headline news, just personal experience that maybe lots of people can relate to.

(I.M)  What does your song and music video for “Beautiful Bride” mean to you personally?

(L.M) Beautiful Bride is describing my belief that God made humanity as a bride for Himself and that she is the most beautiful when she is unified. The video shows a parallel in life between an actual bride and groom. As the bride walks down the aisle, you see different conflicts that she has to go through before she gets to her groom.

(I.M)  In an interview you said that finding Christ saved your life.  How?  What was your life like before you found Him?  How have you changed since finding Christ?

(L.M)  I used to be an atheist and when I was 16, I planned to commit suicide. Through a series of miraculous events, God chased me down and proved not only that He was real, but that He loved me and had more in mind for my life than to die the next day.

I would never have believed if I hadn’t seen and experienced that for myself. Becoming a Christian produced an amazing love for people that I never had before. It also removed a lot of my worries because I knew that my life and death wasn’t in my own hands any more, but in the hands of a loving God.  Read More
