Hollywood Studios Media Center is a full service company that has crafted a top notch reputation for providing the best of resources to the film and modeling industries by making available a tailored service through workshops, and showcases that fully benefit both the talents and the entertainment needs. Join us for a one on one interview with Jack Stockton, President of HSMC to find out how the entertainment industries function.
(I.M) Jack, you have worked in the entertainment business extensively with a resume that covers acting, modeling and even television production. What are some the key points that inspired you to open HSMC?
I wanted to match talents with Industry leaders. One key element is to educate aspiring talents on how to become eligible to attend casting calls and showcases. Most Agencies and Casting Directors can not spend their time advising talents on the necessary steps to become credited for work, so HMSC tailors to this very need.
(I.M) One of the most common misunderstandings in the entertainment industry is that talents assume that they will be spotted and get their big break, while this happens as rarely as winning the lottery, your clients are able to learn the true inner functions of becoming a qualified talent. What is the process for your company to untangle these typical misconceptions?
We provide education through workshops and competitions, this supports a tailored form of development. The more skills you have in acting or modeling, the more the industry sees you as a competitor. Auditions in either category requires a vast need of knowledge and understanding. While we provide talents with competitions, and workshops, we use this as a platform to perfect our talents ability to advance.
(I.M) What services are made available by HSMC?
HSMC offers acting training in the areas of commercials, sit-coms,film, modeling runway and print. Photo sessions are offered to clients for business purposes. Finally we organize showcases throughout the US to show our clients how the business really works.
(I.M) HSMC has earned the reputation of Big Brother to the striving talents by tailoring designed services to strengthen their specific weak points through workshops, rehearsal halls and hands on training. How does this benefit potential agencies requirements and guidelines when your talents answer their casting calls?
Agents and Casting Directors are very busy, therefor HSMC takes all the foot work out of educating and preparing new talents and their families. Agencies like HSMC provide the extra attention to preparations needed, which allows for a quicker turn around time of bringing qualified ready talents to prospecting agencies.
(I.M) HSMC currently operates studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities, this is a sure sign that HSMC has found a better way to assist industry execs when providing new talents. Why is your formula so valuable?
We are designed to provide both the industry, and the talents with top quality services, which allows both parties to do business immediately.
(I.M) Many companies of your caliber often support second and third party educational programs for the young, which is Great, and God Bless Them, but your company takes an extra step to improve issues that you can’t just throw your checkbook at. HSMC uses their own services for youth rehabilitation, which I deem to be profound, Can you give us an example or two of this particular focus?
HSMC is a big partner of the Make-A-Wish foundation, and Child Social Services. Being involved with these fantastic life changing programs has allowed us as a company to change lives on an huge scale. HSMC made it possible for a 13 year old boy, dying of a heart disease to meet his favorite actor. His name was Sippy and his wish was to meet Jim Carey. It was through great doing that Ron Howard made the right contacts, and we were able to make this young mans last wish come true by flying him to the premier of THE GRINCH THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS.
Northern Ca was the home of a 15 year old girl who was up for adoption most of her life. Christna we will call her, was in a very bad place in her life and needed something to motivate her to prevail against her challenges. HSMC diligently worked with Social workers, Foster Parents , and Judges to bring the HSMC program to Christna so that she could break away from this rutt. Within three months HSMC received countless letters from her teachers, and social workers stating that she has completely changed her attitude and is now a productive student in school. Eventually the black nail polish came off, and a whole new outlook on life took over in this child’s life. The Child Social Services has agreed that without the HSMC support program, Christina would most likely become another teen statistic.
(I.M) Are their any major showcases in development for HSMC in 2010?
HSMC is developing Two major showcases this year. The first one will be in March 2010 in downtown Hollywood, for top Hollywood Agents and Casting Directors from LA. The next event will be June 2010 in Northern California where Cindy Osbrink, Dakota-Fanning’s-Agent will be auditioning to find the next child star. Other events will be listed on our websites throughout the year.
(I.M) What are the necessary steps for aspiring talents to enroll in the programs made available at HSMC?

In a world where the rate of employment is non-existent , careers inside the arts, such as in acting, are increasingly more likely to repay. The real key is that, like in any career, you need to work tough to succeed. Actors have an opportunity to create function if you find none. They are multi-talented, diverse-thinking, creative persons who can adapt to situations swiftly. Understanding that acting is very much like being self-employed is significant.
