BLUE PLANET FILM FEST LAUNCHES IN NEW YORK CITY APRIL 23 2010, and the second annual Los Angeles BPFF event will take place October 7-11 2010.
Blue Planet FIlm Fest is an environmental and animal welfare-themed film festival that endeavors to do for environmental films what Sundance did for indie films: branding a genre and making these films a staple of the general public’s cultural menu.
The festival is more than an entertaining weekend where films are screened and seen. Instead, it aims to raise mainstream awareness and incite viewers to action on the most important issues of our time.
Blue Planet premiered in Los Angeles in September 2009 and enjoyed great press, and rave reviews from attendees. Several said the fest experience was “life changing.”
Admissions are now open for the 2010/2011 fests in LA . The cost is $20 and can be done at www.WithoutABox.com. One fee, two festivals. You can’t beat it. Films can be of any length and in documentary, dramatic, or animated, form. Subjects must cover one of the following categories:
Animal Welfare
Wild Life
Ecology
Conservation
Globalization
Climate Change
Water
Land/Soil/Air
Environmental issues
Factory Farming/Agriculture issues
Sustainable Living/Unsustainable living
Blue Planet provides both a visual and visceral experience with interactive, hands on, off-site, events to connect attendees at a heart level with issues in the films.
While we work to engender personal commitments in individuals to do what they can to protect the planet, our goal is to draw a mainstream audience because the earth’s well being lies in the hands of the masses. Our mission is to help build a globally conscience community to support the understanding of animal welfare & environmental issues through the medium of film and interactive forums.
Blue Planet is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit event, and a % of each film’s ticket sales will be donated to organizations of that films topic. Come and enjoy two amazing cities while partaking in great films to stimulate your mind. Share ideas with like-minded filmmakers and experts, and join us to raise mainstream global environmental consciousness. What more could you ask for from a film festival?
Filmmakers are encouraged to submit early as notifications are made when films are screened by the Blue Planet staff. Final submission date is August 1, 2010.

I am glad I am not young anymore. Because I do not want to see what happens when our fossile fuel oil is all gone. No matter how much we drill. At the rate we are using it up. It will all be gone. Your car you have today will only make for a good planter in your yard. No one believes it will happen. Fossile fuels will run dry.
