The Overland Expo

Courtesy of Prescott-Photography.comThe 2009 Overland Expo marks the first event of it’s kind.  Directed by Roseann Hanson the two day event was held at the Yavapai fairgrounds in Prescott Valley, AZ. While off road vehicles may have appealed to the many who attended, there was much more to the expo.  Experiencing the newest in off road technology was entertaining but, the definition of the Overland Expo is both thoughtful and creative.

Courtesy of Prescott-Photography.comIt’s a case of taking something that you love and finding a way to make it help the less fortunate.  Showcasing at the 2009 Overland  Expo were representatives of organizations who are truly “making a difference” with each and every mile they drive. We spent the day going through the many vehicles on display and, were amazed at how many charitable organizations have traveled into other countries and made camp to help key areas in the fields of art, education and community improvements.

Courtesy of Prescott-Photography.comOff road vehicles have found their place in the lives of these groups, they are “tools” that fill the gap between individuals who need help and, individuals who want to be involved in community support.  Poverty has no restrictions and neither do these vehicles. Overlanding is quickly becoming a family event, it is an opportunity to get out and experience the outdoors.  The Overland Expo is a great source for gathering valuable hands on education and, through their own workshops attendants have

the opportunity to learn the safe way to travel.Courtesy of Prescott-Photography.com Respecting the natural landscapes and trails is a “key point of focus” says Roseann Hanson Director of the OverLand Expo.  Our classes will teach you how and why you should follow natural trails and, what kinds of decisions you may need to consider when and “if” you need to create one.  To know more about the 2009 Overland Expo and the many groups involved,  Please visit the following websites.www.OVEXPO.com,  www.TheMuskokaFoundation.org and, www.VanishingAmerica.net.
